Cat Nap
"Will you just go away?"
This is Fuji, my parents cat, taking - or trying to take a snooze.
I think this photo was taken circa 1979-80.
Fuji was a stereo-typical cat; arrogant, kept to herself and manipulating her owners.
Rarely, if she wanted to play at all, she would come in the room and flop down just out of reach so you would have to go to her.

Industrial Strength Revisited
I posted this photo on July 9th of a demolition across from Gallucci's Italian Deli.
I went there yesterday for my Parmisano-Reggiano and aged Asiago
and this was the sight across the street:
Looks like the beginning of a nice little park.

Happy Cat
Or, Fearless Feline!
Ah, what could be better than to relax and cool off in the shade on a hot August day.
"Rusty" is a frequent visitor to my yard and the house next door.
He's pretty easy going but shies away from humans.

Fire Cloud
WOW!
I went outside to see what light was shining on the garage door. It was this cloud out front across the street!
Sunset was just beginning and the light shined through the cloud making it look like a refinery explosion!

Sunshine And Rain
I woke up this morning with the sun shining through my bedroom window.
Then, I heard a rumbling noise off in the distance. I thought maybe a big rig rolled over on the freeway.
Then I heard the rumbling again. I got up and looked outside and rain was pouring down
while the sun was shining! The sound was thunder way off in the distance.

2012 Olympic Closing Ceremony
When Did You Change Channels And Leave The Ceremony?
Dead John Lennon?
Act Pretending To Be The Who?
Dubbed David Bowie?
Annie Lennox in The Ghost Boat?
The Chick Who Stuck Her Tongue Out?
I can't ask any more cause I already changed channels
to watch reruns of NCIS.
Then, Political Animals came on and I turned off the TV.
Grabbed a shot of Whisky and went to bed.
The Closing Ceremony was as Bland as British Food.

The Giant Tomato Maze
It's a jungle out there!
I've picked over 36 tomatoes this week! Made excellent pasta sauce.
I decided to make a game out of these tomatoes.
I call it the Giant Tomato Maze. The object is to carry two meatballs from the cutting board, through the tomato maze without getting stuck, then through the sink with running water and onto the hot stove where
you have to drop them into the pot of sauce without getting burned.
If you make it through the maze and get the meatballs into the pot, you score points!

Stewed Tomatoes - Good Eats!
For those of you that have a yard garden, tomatoes will soon be starting to ripen in abundance!
I picked my first dozen and thought stewed tomatoes was the way to go.
I could use them in other dishes but discovered how tasty they are on their own!
So I made a pot of angel hair pasta and made the dish you see above.
The secret in the recipe is the butter!
My recipe is from a conglomeration of all the recipes I filtered:
4 Cups packed peeled, drained and coarsely chopped tomatoes. Press down on them to release more juice (Reserve the liquid and seeds!)
1/2 Cup each finely chopped: onion, celery and carrot (green bells is up to you)
1Tsp. Sugar 1 more if desired
1 Tsp Salt
1 or 2 Tbs. Butter. Dig two.
Pepper to taste
2 Tbs. Fresh julienned Basil
Saute onion, celery and carrots until translucent. Add the tomatoes, their juices, salt, pepper and butter and the basil. Cook for 30-40 minutes to desired consistency. Serve hot or cold as a side, a topping or a pasta sauce. A nice quick satisfying meal!
*** Use a high sided pan for best results. I used my Wok - perfect.

To peel your tomatoes, cut an "x" in the skins, place them in rapidly boiling water for 20-seconds. Then drop them in an ice bath. The shock will make the skins slide off.
