Where Is The Detroit Theater?

A Lakewood landmark closed and gone, replaced by a McDonalds.
When I was a kid I saw "Earth VS. The Flying Saucers"
and Steve McQueen in "The Blob" here.

Now, it's a McDonalds (I refuse to call it a restaurant)

But, where is the Detroit Theater now?
If you happen to drive down Riverside Drive and Franklin Avenue
you can see its remnants on the porch at the home
of the publisher of The Lakewood Observer.

Perhaps he'll tell us how he came to collect this landmark sign?

Harding Junior High School

I was just thinking of my old Alma Mater. This was taken just days before it was demolished.

And this one shows it mostly gone.
A new school was built on the opposite side of the block where Madison Elementary school used to be.

No Smoking! Plenty Of Drinking, Though!

This wonderfully composed photo of the Woodford Reserve Distillery's veranda was taken by NM Bill.

On a road trip from New Mexico to Ohio to celebrate his mother's birthday, Bill and his wife stopped
at this historic landmark distillery for a taste of their straight bourbon whisky.

Being a bourbon drinker myself, Bill convinced me that Woodford's is the best.
I had to find out so I purchased a bottle.

I have to say this is where the word "smooth" comes from!
(The tomato is the "first pick" from my victory garden)

Anonymous NM Bill Revealed!!!

Well, Sort Of...

Bill is at the historic marker where Sheriff Pat Garrett was murdered nearby.
Pat Garrett is known for shooting "Billy The Kid".

"Who was that masked man?"
"I don't know, but he left on a silver bullet!"

Memorial Day

Today is a day that commemorates those who served our country and paid the ultimate price...
So you could go shopping for bargains.
