Cat Nap

Well, after having a drink on a hot afternoon, Rusty (as I've named him)

takes a little cat nap in the lower backyard.

He likes coming here but is pretty shy about humans and could care less about all of the birds at the feeder.

Beating The Heat

One of a couple of cats that pass through the yard now and then stops to take a drink out of my "homemade" bird bath.

Temperature here broke a record Monday with a high of 92 degrees!

I'm not sure if he's thanking me for the water or wondering where the Friskies are to go with his drink.

I watched this tiny wren try to get that twig through the hole over and over again.

It's about 7-inches long. She dropped it a number of times.

It reminded me of the old carpenter joke where he tries to get through the door with a piece of lumber on his shoulder!

I swear, the Blue Jay is handicapping nuts.

He'll pick up two or three and drop them.

Then, he finds one he likes and takes off to enjoy his meal in private.

It seems like everyday, the run of the mill birds show up on schedule 

while occasionally a new bird stops by.

This cutie is a Gray Catbird. All gray with a black cap and a rust colored exhaust pipe!

Team Spin

Every Wednesday around 6:00 PM cyclists from Spin Cycles in Lakewood make a run out to Westlake and back

along Hilliard Road.

It's quite a sight to see all the bright colors and shiny bikes speeding by ever so silently.

When the light changed, this guy pulled into the intersection way over to the right and stopped.

He waited until I went around him.

That's the entrance to the Valley. I was all the way down to the river when he finally made it to the top of the entrance!
