Urban Wildlife

Talk about "seeing things",
I thought I saw a large chicken climbing a tree on a side street here in Lakewood.
When it came around the other side of the trunk I could see it was a huge hawk!
I turned the car around and grabbed my camera, which I now carry everyday for just these moments.
From the other side of the street, I captured this immature Red Tail Hawk.
The click of the shutter made him take off and that was that.
He's much larger than the photo reveals. About 15-inchs high!

My source at the Lake Erie Nature Center said the hawk was immature because the tail hasn't turned red, which it does after it molts in the second year.
