Looks like a Packard hood ornament.

All of your pictures of the butterflys have great detail to them.

Here's one for you and Kim: The Viceroy butterfly mimics the Monarch in colors and markings and it is difficult to tell them apart.

What is the one tell-tale marking that distinguishes the Viceroy from the Monarch?
Well if Kim won't answer I will.
A viceroy has a black line on its wing a monarch doesn't.

Rolled up in a leaf of their host plant. Viceroys do not migrate.

And, very good with your answer, the black line.
